Trustee Recruitment

In preparation for growth and further development, the Corinium Education Trust is currently seeking to appoint two new members of the Board of Trustees. One of these vacancies has arisen following the resignation of trustee Aaron Griffiths.

This is an exciting time for a prospective trustee to join The Corinium Education Trust.

The Corinium Education Trust currently has a membership of four schools, but has been chosen to open the new primary school for The Steadings, a new residential development in Cirencester, in 2024. We are also in discussion with another primary school who have expressed an interest in joining the Trust in 2022 (read more).

There is renewed interest in multi-academy trusts. In his speech to The Confederation of School Trusts in May 2021, the Secretary of State for Education, Gavin Williamson, confirmed, 'The government's vision is for every school to be part of a family of schools in a strong multi academy trust' and his belief that 'strong multi academy trusts are the best structure to enable schools and teachers to deliver consistently good outcomes for all their pupils.'

‘Our evolving multi-academy trust thrives on effective partnership activity. While each of our schools retain their distinctive characteristics, our school leaders and all involved in school governance share an ambition for all of our pupils, their learning and life chances, and work collaboratively across our schools, providing both challenge and support for each other.’ Chiquita Henson, CEO.

Following a skills’ audit of existing trustees and discussions with The Corinium Education Trust’s Members, the Chair of Trustees, Graham Russell, and Chief Executive, Chiquita Henson, have been working with recruitment agent Academy Ambassadors who will initially be managing the application process.

Ideally, we are seeking to appoint business leaders with board-level experience in:

  • Education Leadership and School Improvement (primary and secondary), with a particular focus on disadvantaged pupil achievement
  • Strategic Leadership and Growth Management.

As a key member of the board, you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12-24 months:

  1. Recovery and school improvement
  2. Organisational development and leadership capacity
  3. Growth and sustainability.

For more information, please go to Academy Ambassadors Job Board. The closing date for applications is Friday 10 September 2021.
