On Wednesday 20 October, Cirencester Deer Park School premiered its new short promotional films. These are designed to capture the essence of life and learning at the school and they have been created to complement the school’s ‘out of hours’ tours and virtual open evening which took place earlier this term.

‘Owing to COVID-19, we have not been able to host our annual open mornings and evening as usual. However, we have been determined to reach out to prospective pupils and their families. We are very grateful to local filmmaker, Domonic White, and the pupils and staff he worked with. Our new short films reflect communicate our vision and reflect something of the pace and excitement for learning at Deer Park.’ Chiquita Henson, Headteacher and Chief Executive of The Corinium Education Trust.

Domonic helped us plan and put the sequence together. He evidently enjoyed working alongside the team: ‘I first experienced Deer Park school as a parent attending an Open Day last year, and I was highly impressed. Working with Chiquita, Liz, and the team on several videos for the school recently, it’s been a pleasure to see that behind the scenes the school is just as amazing every day of the year. I was particularly taken by the co-operative and friendly nature of the pupils we interviewed for the films, and several times I found myself wanting to sit in on the classes I was filming! The teachers were so engaging and the level of conversation between the pupils and the teachers made me want to join in and learn more.’

Because Domonic got to understand the school’s and The Corinium Education Trust’s ethos and ambition for all of our pupils, he readily accepted the invitation to work with more of our schools.

In November 2020, Domonic will be working with Katie Cook, Headteacher at Siddington C of E Primary School, to put together a new promotional film to help her share her vision and values with prospective pupils and parents and inform their decision making. This will feature Katie Cook, her staff and pupils and, once finished, will provide a valuable insight into the school and the changes Katie Cook has brought about since the start of her headship in September 2020.
